THINGS IMPORTANT TO A BOY SERIES
Seemingly insignificant items, such as a screw or bolt, are important objects found and held in a tiny hand or a tiny pocket, not to be left behind or forgotten at any moment. As significant as a teddy bear, screws and bolts are given a name .“Dukes”, and take their place in the hierarchy of a child’s world.
These items are illustrated in the grid of graphite drawings titled “Things important to a boy”.

PAINTINGS ON ALUMINUM
“Weatherscapes” is series of acrylic and watercolor pencil paintings on metal (inspired by the Mexican Retablo) that explore how the elements wind, rain, sun, fog and water are seen and felt. Living by the ocean has been a humbling experience for me, being at the mercy of its calmness and furry. Storms roll in and churn the water, what was once a glassy, sparkling surface is now transformed into valleys of darkness and white peaks of sheer energy. The land becomes a receptacle for whatever the sky chooses in that moment; rain, wind, hot sunshine, a tornado, a hurricane, cumulus clouds in every color, a reminder that everything in this moment is temporary.
